## Synopsis

My Daemon (2023) is a Thai animated science fiction fantasy series created for Netflix, produced by Igloo Studio and voiced by a cast led by Miyuri Shimabukuro as Kento Tachibana, a kind-hearted boy whose mother's life is in danger. Kento and his tiny daemon companion Anna, voiced by Cocoro Kikuchi, set out on a perilous journey across a post-apocalyptic Japan, where the aftermath of a nuclear explosion has left a scorched and hostile landscape. Genjiro Houjou, voiced by Jouji Nakata, and Kaede Houjou, voiced by Ayane Sakura, add weight to the human side of the story, while Igisu, voiced by Shou Okumura, brings the demonic menace closer. Each of the thirteen twenty-five-minute episodes is built around the travelers' encounters with dangerous forces that tighten around them as the journey continues. The series is a single continuing story rather than a case-of-the-week format, and it is told with a dark, melancholic energy that balances moments of tenderness between the boy and his demon friend. Its mood recalls the bleak fantasy of Devilman Crybaby and the wandering quest energy of Dorohedoro. Viewers who enjoy compact animated adventures with a dark edge will find it a striking, emotionally grounded watch.
