## Synopsis

Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty (2022-present) is a Chinese historical mystery series created by Wei Fenghua for Beijing Television, Guangdong Television, Dragon Television and iQiyi. General Lu Lingfeng (Yang Xuwen) and detective Su Wuming (Yang Zhigang) form an uneasy partnership during the reign of Emperor Xuanzong, investigating eerie deaths and apparent hauntings that turn out to hide human schemes reaching into the imperial court. Pei Xijun (Gao Siwen) and Fei Jishi (Chen Chuang) add further layers of loyalty and rivalry as the pair's cases grow more entangled with politics. Across four seasons and 137 episodes, the show is built largely from self-contained cases that feed a slowly building conspiracy, giving each season a mix of standalone puzzles and longer threads. The atmosphere blends lantern-lit night streets, crowded markets and austere palace halls with a tense, mildly eerie register, while the investigations keep a steady sense of procedural curiosity. Fans of Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame and Story of Yanxi Palace will find resonance in its mix of period detail, supernatural puzzles and courtly intrigue.
