## Synopsis

The Flatshare (2022) is a British romantic comedy series created for Paramount+, adapted from a novel. Jessica Brown Findlay plays Tiffany Moore, a cash-strapped twenty something who shares a bedroom with Anthony Welsh's Leon Twomey, a fellow struggling young Londoner. The two take turns sleeping in the same bed on alternating shifts and have never set eyes on each other, so they communicate through notes and traces left behind in their shared rented flat. The engine of the show is the question of whether genuine affection can grow between two people who only ever encounter each other's belongings and the Post-it notes they leave for one another. Each episode follows their small daily frictions with money, work and the household around them, including flatmates Mo and Maia and the landlord Mr. Prior. The series runs for a single six episode season of roughly 47 minutes each. It has a light, breezy and wistful register, with a gentle comic touch and a hopeful romantic undercurrent. Fans of Normal People, Fleabag and Catastrophe will find resonance in its British young adult sensibility and its awkward, sincere take on modern romance.
