## Synopsis

Frankly Speaking (2024) is a South Korean romantic comedy series created by Jang Ji-yeon for JTBC, a single-season limited series of twelve roughly 80-minute episodes. Well-respected announcer Song Ki-baek (Go Kyung-pyo) suddenly loses the ability to filter himself on air, a flaw that quickly becomes a liability for his carefully polished reputation. Television writer On Woo-ju (Kang Han-na) notices the slip and invites him onto her variety show, where his unfiltered honesty turns every segment into a gamble. Supporting roles include Joo Jong-hyuk as Kim Jung-hun, Lee Bom-so-ri as Lee Ha-young, and Shin Jung-keun as Song In-soo, with the broadcast world providing the backdrop for much of the mischief. The engine of the story is the tension between a public persona and private candor, played out across studio rehearsals, network politics, and on-camera confrontations. Each episode is a self-contained stretch of comic escalation that builds toward a growing romance. The tone is breezy and witty, with a warm, sincere undercurrent. Set in contemporary Seoul's television industry, it suits fans of workplace romantic comedies and media satire in the vein of 30 Rock and Mad About You.
