## Synopsis

Earthstorm (2022) is an American documentary limited series created for Netflix, running four episodes of about 44 minutes each. Rather than following a single protagonist, it gathers storm chasers, disaster survivors and first responders who recount their own harrowing encounters with volcanoes, tornadoes, hurricanes and earthquakes. Each episode is built from firsthand interview testimony, with a narrator's voice-over guiding the viewer from one catastrophe to the next and pairing the human accounts with explanations of the science behind each natural event. The engine is the raw immediacy of people who survived close calls and the question of how they got through them, so the stories of eruptions, tornado strikes and storm surges carry much of the weight. The mood is awe-struck and sober, with moments of real peril that can be unsettling to watch. Fans of nature documentaries and disaster-focused nonfiction will find resonance here, in the vein of Life on Our Planet and Mother Nature Unleashed. Because it is a short, self-contained run of standalone topics, it works well as a single sitting or a few evenings of viewing.
