## Synopsis

Mary & George (2024) is a British historical drama miniseries created by D.C. Moore for Sky Atlantic. Julianne Moore plays Mary Villiers, a scheming mother who molds her beautiful son George (Nicholas Galitzine) into a courtier able to seduce King James I (Tony Curran). Their plan for riches and influence drives every episode, as Mary devises outrageous schemes while George navigates a treacherous royal household. Mark O'Halloran's Sir Francis Bacon and Trine Dyrholm's Queen Anne add court rivals and allies to a crowded web of favors and betrayals. Set in 17th century England, the seven-episode limited series blends period costume drama with a bawdy, burlesque sensibility and a sharply queer love story at its heart. Its tone is lurid, witty and provocative, with lavish sets and a sly comic edge. Fans of The Favourite, Wolf Hall and Reign will find resonance in its sexual politics, its ruthless ambition and its tangle of royal patronage.
