## Synopsis

Modern Family (2009-2020) is an American single-camera mockumentary-style sitcom created by Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd for ABC. The series follows three interlocking households within one large blended family: Jay Pritchett (Ed O'Neill), a gruff patriarch who remarries into a new life with Colombian-born Gloria Delgado-Pritchett (Sofía Vergara); his grown daughter Claire Dunphy (Julie Bowen), married to the eager, goofy Phil Dunphy (Ty Burrell); and his gay son Mitchell Pritchett (Jesse Tyler Ferguson), whose partner Cameron Tucker (Eric Stonestreet) is more expressive than anyone expects. Across eleven seasons and roughly 250 episodes, the engine is everyday friction: school crises, dating mishaps, parenting blunders, and the constant tug between old values and new ways of living. Episodes are self-contained case-of-the-week stories braided into one continuing family saga. Characters address the camera in confessional asides that reveal their private thoughts. Set in contemporary Los Angeles suburbs, the tone is warm, brisk, and gently satirical, with the feel of a classic family sitcom updated for a more diverse America. Fans of The Office, Everybody Loves Raymond, and Parenthood will find similar comic warmth and ensemble chemistry.
