## Synopsis

Cabo (2022-2023) is a Mexican telenovela created by José Alberto Castro and Vanesa Varela for Univision and Las Estrellas. Bárbara de Regil plays Sofía Chávez, a young woman who travels to the resort town of Cabo San Lucas after a proxy marriage to Alejandro Noriega, played by Matías Novoa, whom she is told has died in a plane crash. Her search for the truth pulls her between Alejandro and his identical twin brother Eduardo, while Eva Cedeño and María Chacón round out a cast of rivals, relatives and allies tangled in family conspiracies. The engine of the series is the push and pull of romance under deception: each episode turns on a new lie, a new secret, or a new ambition threatening Sofía's chance at love and justice. Told across one season of eighty-five episodes, it is a single continuing melodrama rather than a case-of-the-week format. Rooted in the Latin American soap tradition, it is a Televisa production set in glossy coastal Mexico, with the romantic, dramatic register of its telenovela roots. Tone is heightened and emotional, with sincere longing, betrayal and high-stakes family drama. Fans of Tú o nadie, La Usurpadora and Rubí will find resonance in its twin-swapped romance and soapy intrigue.
