## Synopsis

The Buccaneers (2023-present) is a British period drama series created by Katherine Jakeways for Apple TV. Set in 1870s London, it follows a group of fun-loving American girls, led by Nan St. George (Kristine Froseth) and Conchita Closson (Alisha Boe), who arrive in tightly corseted English high society. Sent across the Atlantic to secure husbands and status, the young women find their plans complicated as they navigate aristocratic rivalries, rigid etiquette and the pull of their own hearts. Principal figures include Lizzy Elmsworth (Aubri Ibrag), Jinny St. George (Imogen Waterhouse) and Lord Richard Marable (Josh Dylan). The engine of the show is the collision between brash transatlantic confidence and the suffocating expectations of London drawing rooms, with ballroom invitations, dinner party intrigues and courtship maneuvers forming the texture of each episode. Its tone blends witty, breezy comedy of manners with romantic longing and social critique. Viewers who enjoy Bridgerton, The Gilded Age and The Age of Innocence will find resonance in its lavish costume design and its sharp take on marriage as a currency. The series runs across two seasons and sixteen episodes so far, with a continuing story that keeps the romantic and social stakes evolving.
