## Synopsis

The Railway Men - The Untold Story of Bhopal 1984 (2023) is a Hindi-language Indian miniseries created by Shiv Rawail for Netflix. Across four hour-long episodes, it dramatizes the night of the 1984 Bhopal gas leak from a factory, focusing not on the chemical catastrophe itself but on the railway station staff who work to save people in its path. Kay Kay Menon plays Iftekaar Siddiqui, a station figure at the center of the rescue effort, alongside Divyendu Sharma as Balwant Yadav, Babil Khan as Imad Riaz, and R. Madhavan as Rati Pandey. Their engine is simple and urgent: each minute the poisoned air spreads, and each decision about whether to hold a train, open a route, or stay at a post can cost or save lives. The series is built from concrete choices, crowded platforms, frightened families, and overwhelmed workers struggling against bureaucratic silence. Its tone is harrowing yet deeply humane, with an undercurrent of anger at the negligence that made the disaster possible. Set in 1984 central India, it grounds its drama in a real event and a real, under-told heroism. Viewers who admired Chernobyl and the emotional realism of Dhaka Sunday will find the same blend of historical weight and personal courage here.
