## Synopsis

American Dad! (2005-present) is a long-running American adult animated sitcom created by Seth MacFarlane, Matt Weitzman, and Mike Barker for FOX and later TBS. Stan Smith, a bumbling CIA operative and suburban patriarch, is the engine of a household that also includes his housewife Francine, college-aged daughter Hayley, and high-school son Steve. Their talking goldfish Klaus and the zany alien Roger, who lives with them, disrupt every plan. Each episode is a self-contained, case-of-the-week story built from espionage missions, family squabbles, and rapid cutaway gags. The show runs as a continuing comedy across twenty-plus seasons, with a crude, irreverent tone and sharp satire of patriotism, suburban life, and national security. Its brash cutaways and outrageous stunts appeal to fans of Family Guy, South Park, and The Simpsons, who will find the same mix of raunchy humor and animated social commentary.
