## Synopsis

Creature (2023) is a Turkish period science fiction horror limited series created by Çağan Irmak for Netflix. Across eight hour-long episodes, a reckless scientist's tragedy sets his student Ziya (Taner Ölmez) on a path to finish the older man's forbidden work using untested methods, and the consequences ripple outward through the households and workplaces of the city. Erkan Kolçak Köstendil plays İhsan, Şifanur Gül plays Asiye, and Devrim Yakut plays Ofelya, each caught between ambition, loyalty and fear. The engine of the story is the cost of a scientist's obsession: every experiment demands a human price, and the city's superstitions and political unease press in on every choice. Set in Ottoman-era Istanbul, the series builds a claustrophobic, shadowed atmosphere of crowded streets, candlelit interiors and quiet dread. Its tone is gothic and melancholic, with horror grounded in bodily transgression and moral decay. Based on a novel and drawing on the Frankenstein tradition, it is a self-contained story that will appeal to fans of Penny Dreadful and the 1931 Frankenstein, as well as viewers who enjoy prestige period drama with a dark edge.
