## Synopsis

Candy Color Paradox (2022-2023) is a Japanese miniseries created by Isaku Natsume for MBS, adapted from a manga. Reporter Onoe Satoshi (Keito Kimura) and photographer Kaburagi Motoharu (Jyutaro Yamanaka) are assigned to work together on the biggest scandals in the tabloid press, and their mutual dislike gradually gives way to something more personal as they uncover secrets side by side. Editor-in-chief Ryuichi Ohura and colleagues Kei Inami (Kenta Izuka) and Kaori (Sae Miyazawa) surround the pair in a busy newsroom where deadlines, paparazzi chases and office politics drive each episode. The eight-episode run is a single continuing story rather than a case of the week, shifting between investigative set pieces and the slow warming of a relationship between two people who started out as rivals. Its tone is light and breezy, with comic friction between the leads sitting beside a more serious undercurrent around the scandals they expose. Set in contemporary Japan, the series has the matter of fact romance and workplace texture of a Japanese romance drama, and fans of Suits and Hitori no Shita will find a similar appetite for banter between rivals. Viewers wanting a short, easy binge with a rivals-to-lovers hook will find it here.
