## Synopsis

Queen of Tears (2024) is a South Korean romantic comedy drama created by Park Ji-eun, Jang Young-woo and Kim Hee-won for tvN, a single-season limited run of sixteen episodes. Kim Ji-won plays Hong Hae-in, the queen of a department store empire, and Kim Soo-hyun plays Baek Hyun-woo, the prince of a supermarket business, a couple whose wedding has curdled into a bitter marital crisis. Park Sung-hoon and Kwak Dong-yeon add rival and family pressures as the wealthy families around them scheme and bicker. The engine of the story is a marriage that both spouses want to save yet keep wounding, with every episode built from scathing confrontations, boardroom and dinner-table skirmishes, and sudden moments of tenderness that reopen old feelings. The Korean chaebol world gives the drama its glossy stakes, while the sharp dark comedy keeps the cruelty bitingly funny. The tone swings between wry, biting and warmly romantic, and the theme is whether love can survive pride and wealth. Fans of Crash Landing on You, My Love from the Star and The Penthouse will find resonance in its polished, emotionally charged romance.
