## Synopsis

American Primeval (2025) is a US limited series western created by Mark L. Smith for Netflix. Taylor Kitsch plays Isaac Reed, a bounty hunter, and Betty Gilpin plays Sara Rowell, a mother who is fleeing her past with her son Devin Rowell (Preston Mota). Dane DeHaan plays Jacob Pratt, a figure whose path crosses theirs in the rugged wilderness. Across six episodes of roughly fifty-two minutes each, the story follows strangers who must travel and survive together through a hostile 19th century American frontier, where every river crossing and camp brings new danger. Shea Whigham plays Jim Bridger, adding a historical frontier presence. The engine of the miniseries is survival: scarce food, hostile terrain, and the cruelty of men who answer to no law. Its tone is harsh and elegiac, balancing moments of tenderness against bleak, violent encounters. The narrative is a single continuous story told in one arc. Its look is grounded and sweeping, capturing the vast landscapes of Wyoming and Utah. Fans of Godless, Hell on Wheels and The Revenant will find resonance in its brutal western vision.
