## Synopsis

Hero (2001-present) is a Japanese prime-time legal drama created for Fuji TV. Takuya Kimura stars as Kohei Kuryu, a former delinquent turned prosecutor whose street-smart instincts and unorthodox style make him an outsider among polished colleagues in the Tokyo prosecutors office. His ambitions and convictions set him against the driven Maiko Amamiya, played by Takako Matsu, whose career-minded approach contrasts sharply with his own. Alongside them, Hiroshi Abe plays Mitsugu Shibayama, a fellow prosecutor whose own loyalties add friction to the office. The engine of the series is Kuryu's relentless pursuit of justice, which plays out through individual cases that unfold across episodes while his persistence gradually reshapes the people working around him. Each season is built from a run of self-contained investigations and courtroom confrontations, with an overarching thread of workplace rivalry and changing alliances. The mood is brisk and sincere, blending courtroom tension with lighter office humor and warm character moments. Fans of Suits and Law and Order will find resonance in its procedural rhythm and its focus on the ethics of prosecution, while viewers drawn to Japanese workplace dramas will appreciate its grounded contemporary setting and its portrait of an idealistic outsider challenging a rigid institution.
