## Synopsis

The Tom and Jerry Comedy Show (1980) is an American animated slapstick comedy series created by Joseph Barbera and William Hanna and produced by Filmation for MGM Television, airing on CBS on Saturday mornings. Its characters are the perennial cat and mouse rivals Tom and Jerry, whose wordless chases, traps, and collisions fill each seven-minute episode. Voice work is handled largely by Lou Scheimer, who voices Tom, Jerry, and Droopy, with Frank Welker appearing as Spike and Slick in a few episodes. The engine of the show is simple and repeatable: the cat schemes to catch the mouse, the mouse outwits him, and the cycle restarts with a new gag and a fresh escalation of physical destruction. Each episode stands alone, so viewers can drop in at any point. Across its single season of 45 episodes the series keeps the brisk, cheerful rhythm of classic theatrical shorts, offering a warm, light, and mostly nostalgic experience. Fans of the original Tom and Jerry shorts, along with The Flintstones and The Pink Panther Show, will find the same kind of family-friendly Saturday morning animation. Its tone is gentle, uncomplicated, and suited to young viewers and adults revisiting childhood favorites.
