## Synopsis

Spellbinder (1995-1997) is an Australian family science fiction fantasy series created by Mark Shirrefs and John Thomson for the Nine Network. Paul Reynolds (Zbych Trofimiuk) is a teenager on a school camp in the Blue Mountains who accidentally slips into a parallel universe. There he meets Riana (Gosia Piotrowska) and Alex Katsonis (Brian Rooney), while Katrina Muggleton (Michela Noonan) and Josh (Ryan Kwanten) are among the classmates and allies whose paths also bend around the strange new world. The engine of the show is the struggle to find a way home while navigating a more hierarchic, technologically different society ruled by a group of people known as Spellbinders, whose power holds ordinary people in check. Each episode builds suspense through chases, hidden loyalties and encounters with an unfamiliar culture, giving the story a steady sense of wonder mixed with unease. Across two seasons and fifty-two episodes, the series stays with a single continuing thread rather than standalone cases. Its tone is suspenseful and earnest, with a youthful, adventurous heart. Fans of Sliders, Narnia and Round the Twist will find resonance in its portal-driven escapades and its blend of teen perspective with fantasy stakes.
