## Synopsis

Green Wing (2004-2007) is a British surreal hospital sitcom created by Victoria Pile for Channel 4. Tamsin Greig plays new surgical registrar Dr Caroline Todd, who starts her first day at Green Wing Hospital dishevelled and under-deodorised and quickly finds herself surrounded by bizarre colleagues. Olivia Colman plays the wildly unpredictable Harriet Schulenburg, Stephen Mangan is the scheming Guy Secretan, and Mark Heap plays the eccentric Alan Statham, while Michelle Gomez and Oliver Chris add further chaos to the staff. Across two seasons of hour-long episodes, the engine of the show is less a medical plot than a run of escalating workplace mishaps, romantic entanglements, petty rivalries and absurd set pieces that unfold in the corridors, wards and staff room of a hospital that feels like it has lost all sense of order. The tone is anarchic, cringe-inducing and deliberately surreal, with a sharp edge of awkward comedy and affectionate warmth toward its misfits. Its mix of deadpan delivery and nonsensical farce places it in the lineage of Scrubs and The IT Crowd, and fans of Spaced and Black Books will find the same chaotic British comic energy here.
