## Synopsis

The Chemistry of Death (2023) is a British crime drama series created for Paramount+ and set in the tranquil English countryside. Harry Treadaway stars as David Hunter, a forensic anthropologist who has recently moved to a quiet village and finds himself drawn into a police inquiry when bodies begin turning up around his new home. Working alongside local officers, Hunter applies painstaking scientific analysis to remains and scattered evidence, and the investigation pulls him into the secrets and tensions of the community. Supporting roles include Katie Leung as Maggie Cassidy, Stuart Bowman as Iain Kinross, and Samuel Anderson as DCI Mackenzie, whose characters give the village its suspicious texture. The story unfolds across a single six-episode season of forty-six minute episodes, each one advancing a murder inquiry with a race-against-time urgency. The mood is cool, eerie and quietly foreboding, with the pastoral calm of the countryside sitting uneasily against the violence beneath it. Fans of Midsomer Murders, Bones and Shetland will find a similar blend of British village mystery and forensic detail, with a focus on investigation over spectacle.
