## Synopsis

Gefesselt (2023) is a German crime story series created for Prime Video, a six-episode dramatization of the real acid barrel murders. Hamburg police commissioner Nela Langenbeck (Angelina Häntsch) is determined to put the abductor Raik Doormann (Oliver Masucci) behind bars after a surviving victim comes forward, but her colleagues in the 1990s police apparatus rarely take her seriously, treating her as an assistant who makes coffee and sorts files. Principal supporting roles include Sylvester Groth as Ludwig Lübke and Wolf Danny Homann as Jens Burmeister, along with Valentina Sauca as Elke Berger, all part of a tightly focused investigative team. The engine of the story is a grinding procedural: each episode tracks the slow accumulation of evidence, the institutional obstacles around it, and the escalating horror of a man who keeps women in a hidden nuclear bunker and disposes of their remains in acid. Because the series is a single six-episode season of roughly forty-three minutes each, it moves briskly and stays serialized, with the police hunt the constant throughline. Its tone is bleak, tense and claustrophobic, close in spirit to the procedural true crime of Mindhunter and the German crime drama tradition of Dark, with a period atmosphere of analog-era policing in Hamburg that sharpens the sense of dread.
