## Synopsis

Blackwater (2023) is a Swedish drama mystery miniseries created by Kerstin Ekman for SVT1. Adapted from Ekman's novel, the six-episode limited series follows four unconnected people whose lives converge after two tourists are found murdered in a tent near the mountain town of Blackwater. Asta Kamma August and Pernilla August play Annie Raft across the 1973 and 1991 timelines, while Rolf Lassgård and Sven Boräng share the role of Birger Torbjörnsson, and Alba August and Alva Adermark play Mia Raft. The engine of the show is the slow reconstruction of a crime that has shaped every life around it, with each episode alternating between decades and between the people carrying private guilt and suspicion. Its rhythm is patient and atmospheric, built on rural silences, tense domestic moments and the weight of long-buried secrets. Set in 1970s Sweden with a later 1990s strand, it is a brooding, melancholic piece with a literary sensibility. Viewers who enjoy Twin Peaks, The Killing and Broadchurch will find resonance in its mood and its community-wide mystery.
