## Synopsis

Sweetpea (2024) is a British dark comedy thriller series created by Kirstie Swain for Sky One and Sky Atlantic. Ella Purnell plays Rhiannon Lewis, a woman so easily overlooked that people walk past her in the street, until a moment of pressure pushes her over the edge and she commits a killing. Her new reality brings unexpected attention and consequences, and the engine of each episode is the struggle to keep the secret while the people around her, including Nicôle Lecky as Julia, Calam Lynch as AJ and Jeremy Swift as Norman, begin to complicate and endanger her carefully maintained image. The series runs as one continuing story across a single season of seven episodes, with each episode escalating the lies and close calls. Set in contemporary Britain, it leans into farce and bleak humour, mixing a wry, slightly uneasy tone with moments of suspense and sharp social observation. Its themes of invisibility, self-image and the hidden violence beneath ordinary politeness recall the wry menace of Fleabag and the escalating deception of Killing Eve. Viewers who enjoy black comedy with a murderous undercurrent will find its blend of mischief and unease appealing, though its farcical edges and cliffhanger structure divide critics.
