## Synopsis

Birds of Prey (2002-2003) is an American superhero drama series created by Laeta Kalogridis for The WB. Set in the crime-ridden streets of New Gotham City, the show follows Helena Kyle, the Huntress (Ashley Scott), Barbara Gordon, known as Oracle (Dina Meyer), and Dinah Lance (Rachel Skarsten) as they carry on the vigilante war on crime after Batman has apparently withdrawn. Their efforts are supported by Alfred Pennyworth (Ian Abercrombie), who serves Helena as heir to the Wayne estate, and by Detective Jesse Reese (Shemar Moore), a police officer confronted with crimes and abilities he cannot explain. The engine of the series is the tension between inherited duty and the heroines' own identities, with each episode built around a new criminal threat and gadget-driven investigation in a city that feels both glossy and menacing. The thirteen-episode single season is a one-season run that was canceled before its story could develop. Its tone is brisk and action-forward, with a comic book sensibility and a light, sometimes campy edge. Fans of Smallville, Gotham and Dark Angel will find resonance in its blend of teen-friendly superhero action, serialized vigilante mythology and a female-led ensemble.
