## Synopsis

The Architect (2023) is a Norwegian science fiction satire miniseries created by Kerren Lumer-Klabbers for Viaplay. Across four episodes, architect Julie (Eili Harboe) pitches a bold plan to a city tender for a thousand flats in Oslo: convert the empty underground car parks into homes. Her idea wins attention and the project starts to take on a life of its own, pulling in colleagues and ambitious planners, including Kaja (Ingrid Unnur Giæver) and Marcus (Fredrik Stenberg Ditlev-Simonsen). The engine of the story is the gap between a clever design pitch and the lived reality of the people who would inhabit these subterranean blocks. Each episode follows a new stage of the scheme, from boardroom presentations to the practical absurdities of building beneath the city. Set in a near-future Oslo that feels uncomfortably close, the series balances cool, clinical visuals with a pitch-black, deadpan wit. Its tone is wry and unsettling, a mix of satire and social unease. Fans of Black Mirror and the sharp satire of Upload will find resonance in its skewering of technology-driven progress and the people who sell it. It is a compact, self-contained watch that rewards close attention.
