## Synopsis

The Kingdoms of Ruin (2023) is a Japanese anime action fantasy series adapted from a manga and produced by Yokohama Animation Laboratory, airing on MBS and TBS. Its single 12-episode season follows Adonis, a human boy whose mentor is a witch, as he watches the witches he once revered being hunted down by a new scientific establishment that regards magic as an obstacle to progress. Adonis, voiced by Kaito Ishikawa, is driven by a vow of revenge that pushes him toward bloodshed against humanity itself, while Doroka (Azumi Waki) and Chloe (Ryoko Shiraishi) orbit his struggle, and Yamato (Satoshi Hino) and Yuki (Hikaru Tono) add further principal presence. Each episode builds the conflict between the Gear Expansion's machinery and the old magic through clashing battles and escalating reprisals. The series is a shounen-style spectacle with grim, edge-forward violence, fans of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Attack on Titan and Berserk will find its mix of dark fantasy and vengeful momentum familiar. The mood is bleak and vengeful, with the fantasy world framed as a war between progress and wonder. Its brevity makes it a compact, intense watch for viewers who want a concentrated dark fantasy story.
