## Synopsis

Elvis (2005) is a two-episode American biographical miniseries created for CBS. Jonathan Rhys Meyers plays rock and roll icon Elvis Presley, who moves from his high school years toward international superstardom. Around him the story gathers Randy Quaid as the manipulative manager Colonel Tom Parker, Rose McGowan as Ann-Margret, Tim Guinee as record producer Sam Phillips, and Robert Patrick as Vernon Presley, his father. The engine of the miniseries is the tension between a young singer's raw talent and the family loyalties and business deals that shape his path. Each of the two long episodes, running about eighty-seven minutes apiece, moves through studio sessions, tense negotiations, and the crowds that pack his early concerts. The production is a grounded, mostly earnest drama with a warm, nostalgic glow over its recording rooms and stage performances. Its emotional register is driven by ambition, loyalty, and the cost of fame. Fans of Walk the Line, Ray, and Behind the Candelabra will find resonance in its biographical portrait of a performer and the machinery that surrounds him.
