## Synopsis

Fiasco (2024) is a French mockumentary comedy miniseries created by Igor Gotesman and Pierre Niney for Netflix. Across seven episodes of roughly 38 minutes each, it follows a first-time director, played by Pierre Niney as Raphaël Valande, whose film shoot begins to collapse almost immediately. A behind-the-scenes documentary crew follows every step, capturing the mishaps, rivalries and tangled loyalties that build around the production. Tom and Bartabé, played by François Civil, and producer Magali Verès, played by Géraldine Nakache, sit at the center of the escalating chaos, while Jean-Marc Torrosian, played by Pascal Demolon, adds further friction. The engine of the show is the gap between what the director wants to accomplish and the blackmail, sabotage and petty sabotage that keep getting in the way. Each episode is built from on-set disasters captured by the camera, giving the series a brisk, awkward, deadpan rhythm. The single season has a lively, cringe-tinged comic tone that rewards viewers who enjoy the sharp observational humor of Extras and Curb Your Enthusiasm, and it will appeal to anyone drawn to satirical stories about filmmaking.
