## Synopsis

Lost in Austen (2008) is a British four-part miniseries created by Guy Andrews for ITV1, a light period comedy and time travel romance. Jemima Rooper plays Amanda Price, a contemporary London woman who swaps places with Elizabeth Bennet and finds herself inside Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Morven Christie appears as Jane Bennet, Alex Kingston as Mrs Bennet and Hugh Bonneville as Mr Bennet, while Elliot Cowan plays Mr Darcy and Christina Cole plays Caroline Bingley. The engine of the story is Amanda's wish to return to her own time, which she can only achieve by setting the familiar plot right. Each episode is built from awkward social blunders, rigid Regency etiquette and a modern heroine's sharp irreverence colliding with courtship rituals. The mood is witty, breezy and warmly romantic, with a playful affection for Austen's world. Set in early nineteenth century England, the story is contained in a single tight run of four one-hour episodes. Fans of Austenland, Outlander and the 1995 Pride and Prejudice adaptation will find much to enjoy here.
