## Synopsis

Wave Makers (2023) is a Taiwanese political drama miniseries produced by KOKO Entertainment and released on Netflix. Hsieh Ying-hsuan plays Weng Wen-fang, a politician from a political family who, after losing her council seat, joins the Justice Party as deputy director and spokesperson of its Publicity Department. Her world is the campaign office, where she leads a team of strategists including Jag Huang as Chia-ching Chen, Gingle Wang as Ya-ching Chang and Leon Dai as Chang-tse Chao. The engine of the show is the daily work of shaping public opinion: messaging, rivalries inside the team, and the constant pressure to deliver party goals while her faith and values are tested by each compromise. Across eight episodes of about fifty minutes, the story moves through the workplace conflicts and political maneuvering of a single campaign rather than a case of the week, producing one continuing arc. Set in contemporary Taiwan, the series carries a rousing, tense and earnest register, with an ensemble workplace drama feel. Fans of The West Wing, Veep and Scandal will find resonance in its power plays, ambition and idealism under strain.
