## Synopsis

The Day of the Jackal (2024) is a British espionage thriller series created by Ronan Bennett for Sky Atlantic and Sky Showcase, adapting Frederick Forsyth's 1971 novel. Eddie Redmayne plays the Jackal, an unrivalled lone assassin who takes contracts for the highest fee, while Lashana Lynch plays Bianca Pullman, a tenacious British intelligence officer who begins tracking him after his latest kill. The engine of the show is a methodical hunt: he plans each hit with precision while she follows fragments of evidence, and each episode tightens the net through shifting alliances, false trails and close calls. Told as a single ten-episode season of continuing story, the series moves briskly across European cities, leaving destruction in its wake. Its tone is taut, cool and propulsive, with a glossy prestige polish and an undercurrent of paranoia. Fans of Killing Eve, Hunted and The Night Manager will find resonance in its sleek spy craft and cat and mouse tension.
