## Synopsis

Undead Murder Farce (2023) is a Japanese anime mystery series produced by lapintrack and Fuji Television Network, broadcast on Fuji TV. Its protagonist Aya Rindo (voiced by Tomoyo Kurosawa) is a detective who exists only as a beautiful disembodied head, carried around by her loyal maid Shizuku Hasei (voiced by Makoto Koichi). Their search for her stolen body draws them into a partnership with half-human oni slayer Tsugaru Shunichi (voiced by Taku Yashiro). The engine of the series is a steady stream of supernatural crimes in a world where vampires, werewolves and other creatures still walk openly among people, with each episode built around a new mystery the trio must untangle while traveling across Europe. The thirteen-episode run plays as a case-of-the-week adventure with a continuing thread about recovering Aya's body. Set in a reimagined Meiji-era alternate history, the show blends Japanese folklore with gothic European settings. Its tone mixes grisly murder and eerie atmosphere with playful banter and deadpan comedy between the three leads. Fans of Mononoke, Hellsing Ultimate and Sherlock Holmes adaptations will find resonance in its folklore-soaked detective work and its gothic, comedic sensibility.
