## Synopsis

Jubilee is a 2023 Indian period drama miniseries created by Vikramaditya Motwane and Soumik Sen and distributed by Prime Video. Across ten hour-long episodes it follows Srikant Roy (Prosenjit Chatterjee), a studio boss building a film empire, alongside his movie-star wife Sumitra Kumari (Aditi Rao Hydari) and his trusted aide Binod Das (Aparshakti Khurana). Their rise is shadowed by Niloufer Qureshi (Wamiqa Gabbi), a figure drawn from the world of courtesans and performance, and Jay Khanna (Sidhant Gupta), who arrives as a refugee carrying a past he must hide. The engine of the show is ambition: each character pursues stardom and riches while secrets, rivalries and compromises threaten to unravel the studio. Each episode builds the story through backstage negotiations, shoots, parties and private betrayals rather than a case of the week. Set in newly independent India, the series captures the glittering excess of the studio system against the political and social upheaval of the period. The tone is glossy and seductive yet melancholic and tense, with an undercurrent of displacement and moral compromise. Fans of Mad Men, Babylon and Bombay Talkies will find resonance in its portrait of an industry that sells dreams while its people fracture. Prime Video produced the single season as a self-contained serialized drama with a finale that leaves its central tensions open.
