## Synopsis

The Abandons (2025) is a American adult western drama series created by Kurt Sutter for Netflix. Set in 1850s Washington on a lawless frontier, it follows two families led by powerful matriarchs, Fiona Nolan (Lena Headey) and Constance Van Ness (Gillian Anderson). The wealthy Van Ness clan and the poor but deeply loyal Nolan family battle for supremacy, and the engine of the story is the rivalry itself, with each side hungry for land, status and survival in a territory where no authority holds. Younger principals Elias Teller (Nick Robinson) and Dahlia Teller (Diana Silvers) are drawn into the crossfire, while Trisha Van Ness (Aisling Franciosi) and Garret Van Ness (Lucas Till) bring their own pressures from inside the wealthy household. Each episode is built from shifting alliances, betrayals and violent standoffs, and the seven-episode run plays as one continuing story rather than a case of the week. The tone is harsh, sweeping and melodramatic, with a rough, grim atmosphere and a dark sense of moral compromise. Fans of Deadwood, Hell on Wheels and Yellowstone will find resonance in its blend of frontier brutality and dynastic family drama.
