## Synopsis

City of God: The Fight Rages On (2024-present) is a Brazilian crime drama series produced for HBO Brasil and HBO Latino, a sequel to the film City of God, set in a Rio de Janeiro favela. Alexandre Rodrigues returns as Buscape, the photographer who once documented the neighborhood and now recounts how the conflicts between police, drug traffickers and militias have shaped the community over two decades. Roberta Rodrigues plays Berenice, Andreia Horta plays Jerusa, and Sabrina Rosa plays Cinthia, each caught in the shifting loyalties and reprisals that define daily life in the favela. The engine of the show is the struggle to keep families and friendships intact while violence keeps returning in new forms. Each episode unfolds as a dense, character-driven chapter in a single continuing story, with a seven-episode season that gives the crime plot room to breathe. Set in present-day Rio, the series is grounded and raw, with a melancholic, tense register that foregrounds the cost of survival. Fans of City of God, The Wire and Narcos will find resonance in its portrait of an urban community shaped by organized crime and state force.
