## Synopsis

The Åre Murders (2025) is a Swedish Netflix nordic noir crime series created by Viveca Sten, based on her novel series. Stockholm detective Hanna Ahlander (Carla Sehn), who is under internal investigation, retreats to a ski resort in the mountains of Åre to unwind, but a young girl's disappearance pulls her back into police work. Alongside her, Daniel Lindskog (Kardo Razzazi) and Anton Lundin (Charlie Gustafsson) work the case, while local figures such as Ylva Labba (Maxida Märak) and Birgitta Grip (Pia Johansson) reveal the tensions of a close community. The engine of the show is the slow accumulation of small contradictions, interviews, and the pressure of a case that feels personal to everyone involved. The season runs five episodes of roughly forty-five minutes each, forming a single continuing investigation rather than a case-of-the-week format. Set in the snowbound Swedish countryside, its atmosphere is cold, suspicious, and quietly suspenseful, with a steady undercurrent of unease. Fans of The Killing, Trapped and The Bridge will find resonance in its brooding tone and procedural patience.
