## Synopsis

Queen Woo (2024) is a South Korean period drama miniseries created for tvN, a Korean historical series with a vivid action streak. Jeon Jong-seo plays Queen Woo, the woman at the center of the story, who must crown a new king within twenty-four hours after the death of the ruler of Goguryeo. Ji Chang-wook plays King Gogukcheon, Kim Moo-yul appears as Eulpaso, and Jeong Yu-mi plays Woo Soon in a palace where princes and five rival tribes are fighting for the throne. The engine of the show is the race against time: every hour brings another threat, another betrayal and another claim on the crown, while Queen Woo has to outmaneuver men who see her gender and her era as limits. Told across eight roughly fifty-five-minute episodes, the series is one continuous story of political scheming and palace intrigue, with sword fights and tribal clashes punctuating the court maneuvering. The tone is tense and propulsive, driven by ambition, loyalty and the cost of power, with a strong sense of a woman claiming her own destiny. Fans of Mr. Sunshine, Kingdom and The Crown will find resonance in its blend of dynastic politics, historical spectacle and a determined heroine.
