## Synopsis

Blue Eye Samurai (2023) is an American adult animated action drama series created by Amber Noizumi and Michael Green for Netflix. Mizu, a young warrior with striking blue eyes, is voiced by Maya Erskine as she carves a bloody path through Edo-period Japan, driven by a dream of revenge against those who branded her a half-breed outcast. Her quest pulls her into uneasy partnerships with a ronin companion voiced by George Takei and a swordmaker voiced by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, while Kenneth Branagh voices the Western figure at the center of her hunt. Each episode is built around hunts, duels and encounters that push her closer to the truth of her past. The show is a single-season run of eight episodes, with a stylized, painterly look that treats swordplay as an art form. Its tone is sombre, violent and reflective, though it allows flickers of dark humor. Fans of Samurai Jack, Afro Samurai and Shogun will find resonance in its blend of samurai spectacle, prejudice and vengeance.
