## Synopsis

Étoile (2025) is an American comedy-drama series created by Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino for Prime Video. Set in the cutthroat world of elite classical ballet, the eight-episode series follows an ambitious gambit in which two world-renowned companies, one in New York City and one in Paris, agree to swap their most talented stars to rescue their storied institutions. Luke Kirby plays Jack McMillan and Charlotte Gainsbourg plays Geneviève Lavigne, two leaders whose rivalry and artistic pride collide as the exchange unfolds. Lou de Laâge as Cheyenne Toussaint, Gideon Glick as Tobias Bell and David Alvarez as Gael Rodriguez round out the principal cast, while Simon Callow and David Haig appear in supporting roles. The engine of the show is the pressure of keeping a century-old company solvent: rehearsals, backstage negotiations, romantic entanglements and the personal costs of performing at the highest level of the art form. Its tone is witty, fast and warm, with overlapping banter and a glamorous, theatrical texture. Fans of Gilmore Girls, Smash and Center Stage will find resonance in its blend of sharp dialogue, institutional drama and dance-world ambition. The series was canceled after a single season.
