## Synopsis

My Three Sons (1960-1972) is an American family sitcom created for CBS and built on the classic single father tradition. Aeronautical engineer Steven Douglas, played by Fred MacMurray, is a widower raising three sons with the help of his father-in-law Charley O'Casey (William Demarest) and later his great-uncle Bub O'Casey (William Frawley). Robbie (Don Grady), Mike (Tim Considine) and Chip (Stanley Livingston) bring the everyday chaos of growing up: schoolyard rivalries, first crushes, household mishaps and the small dilemmas that a loving but busy father must patiently untangle. The series runs for twelve seasons and several hundred half-hour episodes, each a self-contained case of domestic problems rather than a continuing serialized plot. Over time the household grows as an adopted son, a stepdaughter, new wives and another generation of boys join the family. The tone stays gentle, wholesome and comforting, with a steady current of warmth and affection. Fans of Father Knows Best, Eight Is Enough and Full House will find the same cozy, family-centered sitcom comfort here.
