## Synopsis

Vgly (2023-present) is a Mexican comedy drama series created by Marcos Bucay, Santiago Espejo and Jorge Tijerina, released on HBO Max. Benny Emmanuel plays Vgly, an aspiring artist with no money and no industry contacts, who leads a tight crew that includes Juan Daniel Garcia Treviño as Flex, Sasha González as Data and Alejandro Lago as Bubble. Norma Reyna plays Marimix, a presence that anchors the group's everyday life. The engine of the show is the crew's relentless push to get noticed in the music business, with each episode built from studio sessions, cramped apartment hustles, borrowed equipment, and the small humiliations and wins of trying to be taken seriously when you start with nothing. Across two seasons and twenty-three half-hour episodes, the series keeps a loose, irreverent rhythm while staying rooted in the friendships that carry the characters through setbacks. Set in contemporary urban Mexico, it lands in a streetwise register that blends humor with raw, sometimes harsh realism. Its tone is irreverent and gritty yet warm, and its themes of ambition, loyalty and class pressure give it a bold identity. Fans of Euphoria, Empire and Club de Cuervos will find resonance in its young, unpolished energy and its portrait of dreamers pushing against the edges of their world.
