## Synopsis

Sleeping Dog (2023) is a German crime miniseries created for Netflix, adapted from the German-language original Schlafende Hunde. Max Riemelt plays Mike Atlas, a former detective who now lives on the streets of Berlin, and he refuses to let go of a murder case that the authorities considered closed. When a fresh death shakes loose doubts about the original verdict, Mike pursues the truth with little more than his instincts and the dwindling goodwill of people who once trusted him. Luise von Finckh plays Jule Andergast, and Carlo Ljubek plays Luka Zaric, while Peri Baumeister, Antonio Wannek and Melodie Simina round out a principal cast that keeps the investigation personal and unstable. The six-episode season, running about 55 minutes per episode, is one continuing story in which each revelation reshapes what came before. The series has a gritty, rain-dulled atmosphere, a bleak urban underside, and a steady undercurrent of unease about institutional failure and buried guilt. Its tone is grim and deliberate rather than flashy, and it will appeal to viewers who enjoy the cold case intrigue of Dark, the reopened investigations of The Killing, and the morally compromised detectives of True Detective. Mature content includes violence, drug use and strong language.
