## Synopsis

Remember Darling (2006-2008) is a Turkish period romance drama series created by Şebnem Çıtak and Nilgün Öneş for atv. Set in late 1950s Istanbul, it follows two young people from opposite families, played by Cansel Elçin as Ahmet Gürsoy and Beren Saat as Yasemin Ünsal, who fall in love and find that their families will not permit a marriage. Okan Yalabık as Necdet Aygün and Engin Şenkan as Rıza Ünsal add further tension to the household rivalries that surround the couple. Across two seasons and sixty eight episodes of ninety minutes each, the story stays with its central romance as obstacles pile up year after year, shaped by the political unrest of the era. The result is a sweeping, emotionally heavy melodrama in the tradition of Turkish television romance, with a tender, yearning register and a sense of history pressing on private lives. Fans of Romeo and Juliet, Kara Sevda and Pride and Prejudice will find resonance in its forbidden love, patient suffering and devotion to a couple who refuse to give up on each other.
