## What critics say

Audiences found the reboot of the 1980s classic a serviceable but unremarkable updated action series, with the new KITT car remaining its main draw.

## Synopsis

Knight Rider (2008-2009) is an American action crime series created by Glen A. Larson for NBC, a reinvented revival of the 1980s classic. Justin Bruening plays Michael Knight, a crime fighter who works alongside KITT, a supercar with artificial intelligence voiced by Val Kilmer. KITT can hack almost any system, carries jet fighter weapons, and transforms its body and projects holographic imagery to slip past villains. Michael's partnership with the car drives each episode, as the pair take on criminal schemes and conspiracies. Principal characters Sarah Graiman (Deanna Russo) and her father Charles Graiman (Bruce Davison) anchor the team's connection to the larger plot, while Carrie Rivai (Sydney Tamiia Poitier), Alex Torres (Yancey Arias), Billy Morgan (Paul Campbell) and Zoe Chae (Smith Cho) round out the ensemble. The single season of seventeen episodes is a serialized action series with a case of the week rhythm and a strong techno gloss. The tone is brisk, glossy and nostalgic, with a playful affection for the original show. Fans of Knight Rider (1982), Burn Notice and Alias will find a familiar pleasure in its gadget driven, undercover adventures.
