## Synopsis

Task (2025-present) is an American crime drama series created by Brad Ingelsby for HBO. Mark Ruffalo plays Tom Brandis, an FBI agent who leads a task force assembled to stop a string of violent robberies in the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia. The hunt centers on an unsuspecting family man whose crimes sit beneath ordinary domestic life, and the investigation pulls in local residents, a drug-dealing network, and a biker gang along the way. Tom Pelphrey and Emilia Jones appear as members of the family at the heart of the case, while Thuso Mbedu, Raul Castillo and Fabien Frankel fill out the task force and its suspects. The series builds its tension through surveillance, tense confrontations, and the strain of a community where violence feels close to home. Its tone is gritty, grounded and bruised, with a melancholic undercurrent about hardship and the thin line between provider and criminal. Fans of The Wire, Mare of Easttown and Ozark will find resonance in its blue-collar setting, moral ambiguity, and slow-building dread. The show runs for seven episodes in its first season, with its story still unfolding on HBO.
