## Synopsis

Night Court (1984-1992) is an American network sitcom created by Reinhold Weege for NBC. Harry Anderson plays Harry T. Stone, an eccentric, fun-loving judge who presides over a chaotic urban night court in Manhattan, where the docket is a parade of petty arrests and odd defendants. Markie Post as Christine Sullivan, John Larroquette as the sardonic prosecutor Dan Fielding, and Richard Moll as the hulking bailiff Bull Shannon anchor the ensemble, with Charles Robinson and Marsha Warfield rounding out the courthouse staff. The engine of each episode is simple: a parade of minor cases, colleagues scheming against one another, and Harry's unpredictable rulings turning routine hearings into farce. Nine seasons of 193 episodes give it a long, episodic shape, with each night's docket largely self-contained and the staff relationships gradually deepening over time. The register is breezy, warm and joyful, built on quick verbal jabs, slapstick and character comedy in the vein of Barney Miller and Taxi, with a studio audience and a nostalgic eighties feel. Fans of workplace sitcoms about quirky professionals will find the same comfort and silliness here.
