## Synopsis

Floris (1969-2016) is a Dutch television adventure series created by Paul Verhoeven and Gerard Soeteman for NTS, a single-season run of thirteen half-hour episodes. Rutger Hauer stars as the exiled knight Floris van Rosemondt, with Jos Bergman as his Indian friend Sindala, and the two travel together on a quest to recover the birthright papers that an evil lord has taken from Floris. Along the way they meet a nobleman who offers them shelter in his castle, and the episodes are built from journeys, skirmishes, and the shifting loyalties of medieval lords and their retinues. The engine is simple and clear: a wronged man wants his name and inheritance restored, and every obstacle on the road tests his courage and his friendship with Sindala. The show is set in medieval Europe, a rough landscape of roads, forests, and fortified halls. Its tone is earnest and straightforward, with a warm bond between its leads giving the adventure heart. Viewers who enjoy Robin of Sherwood, The Adventures of Robin Hood, or Ivanhoe will find a similar appeal in its chivalric journeys and period atmosphere, though this is a more modest, one-season Dutch production.
