## Synopsis

Hatim (2003-2004) is an Indian fantasy adventure series created for StarPlus and directed by Amrit Sagar. Rahil Azam plays Hatim, a generous and courageous wanderer, alongside Kiku Sharda as his companion Hobo, Nirmal Pandey as the sinister Dajjal, Pooja Rawal as Jasmine and Tom Alter as the King of Paristan. Drawing on a classical Persian story about Hatim al-Tai of the Tayyi tribe of Arabia, the show follows its hero through a string of quests across a mythic landscape of kings, sorcerers and magical trials. Each stretch of the journey tests his virtue against enemies who wield dark enchantments, so the engine of the series is a steady sequence of challenges in which compassion and courage must hold against cunning rivals. The stories unfold over one season of forty-eight episodes, a single continuing run told in a theatrical, storybook manner. Its tone is earnest, colorful and adventurous, with a warm moral center that carries the audience from one trial to the next. Fans of Alif Laila, Sinbad and Xena: Warrior Princess will find a similar pleasure in folkloric heroes, fantastical kingdoms and tales of virtue against sorcery.
