## Synopsis

Zorro (1990-1993) is an American action-adventure drama series created for The Family Channel, a swashbuckling revival of the masked vigilante legend. Duncan Regehr plays Don Diego de la Vega, a mild-mannered aristocrat in 1800s old California who becomes the fearless masked fencer Zorro to defend the poor against corrupt officials. Michael Tylo, J.G. Hertzler and Henry Darrow appear among the principal cast, with Juan Diego Botto as Felipe and Patrice Martinez as Victoria Escalante. Each episode builds around a new injustice that Zorro must overturn with sword work, disguises and daring escapes, while the wider arc tracks the rivalry between the hero and the local alcalde. The series runs four seasons and 88 episodes, shot entirely in Madrid, Spain, and it moves with brisk, sun-washed adventure energy and a wholesome, optimistic heart. Its tone is breezy and comforting rather than grim, with theatrical fights and romance tangling the swashbuckling days of the Spanish colonial frontier. Fans of Zorro (1957), The Mask of Zorro and Batman: The Animated Series will find resonance in its masked justice and family-friendly heroism.
