## Synopsis

Burning Body (2023) is a Spanish true crime miniseries created by Laura Sarmiento for Netflix. Based on a real 2017 Spanish murder case, the eight-episode limited series follows the investigation after a police officer is murdered and set on fire. Attention quickly narrows to his girlfriend Rosa Peral (Úrsula Corberó) and her lover Albert (Quim Gutiérrez), whose tangled relationship draws suspicion from the police and the press. Principal supporting players include Isak Férriz as Javi, Eva Llorach as Ester and Pep Tosar as Juan, with Mamen Duch and Guiomar Caiado adding further weight to the investigative and personal circles around the case. Each episode layers interviews, interrogations and the growing noise of public opinion, so the drama becomes as much about how a story gets told as about who committed the crime. The series is a single continuous narrative rather than a case of the week, and it moves at a steady, gripping pace. Its tone is tense and morally murky, with strong performances, evocative music and a sense of desire and deceit closing in. Fans of The Staircase, Mindhunter and Money Heist will find resonance here, especially those drawn to dramatized true crime and Spanish-language thrillers that question what the public believes.
